Cherry Blossom Tales: white and pink kanzashi.

I tend to focus on the tops of my silk flowers, but I decided to focus on the darling "tails" (also called しだれ、枝垂桜、like weeping sakura, also called...many other things...also heard them called さがり・下がり, which means 'falls', and even 藤・ふじ, which means 'wisteria'. ). I like the sound of "shidare" though.

They're cute, aren't they? And I think shidare in general are rather unique to the kanzashi style.

As many of you know, maiko (an apprentice geisha: traditional dancing arts women of many talents), wear larger kanzashi with more Powerful Shidare-- several strands of great length. I have long~ preferred to make my shidare a more manageable length, and have been using an uneven・asymmetrical length in shidare since...forever. ^_^V So. Here's to cute shidare tales.
