June Willow. Silk Tsumami Kanzashi. by hanatsukuri June Willow. Silk Tsumami Kanzashi. by hanatsukuri
Seeing that June is my birth month, I have special affection for willows...they're one of the official Maiko/Geisha flowers for the Kanzashi Calendar. It's always been one of my goals to adapt the "traditional" to a more wearable size and original design-- so you don't need to have a wonderful large hairstyle/wig, or even a kimono to enjoy these.

I've done a couple of willow designs over the years...  ( hanatsukuri.deviantart.com/gal… ), but...I either don't make them very often, or I forgot to photograph them.

Anyway! This is handmade of green silk blend, and another kind of green two-toned silk, to create variation between the leaves. Also, white poly-satin flower (hand cut, folded, and arranged). I like to choose by color and texture occasionally, and willows really shine when the fabric is partially transparent or metallic.

Thoughts?

Are there bells on the shidare? How lovely! The variations in the colour of the leaves really make it seem lighter!

Yes! Good eye. :huggle: I'm really pleased you like the variations-- that is the duo-toned colour of the silk, so I'm glad you like the choice.

Your skill with green shades in particular is magic. The color is nice to look at especially on bright, hot summer days
