Light Kiss. Sakura Kanzashi. by hanatsukuri Light Kiss. Sakura Kanzashi. by hanatsukuri
Gentle pink, light kiss.

:D this one is promised to a friend. I shall probably make another for Sakura-Month (April...)

The dye job on this...took a while...individually pinching 60 petals also took a while. *Dies* what an elaborate piece...!

So, yes, yet another of my tsumami * kanzashi (pinched * ornate hair pin). Kanzashi are made (much like origami), where each petal was a square--and then was folded into a petal shape. Then you arrange it, etc, etc. :D it takes a very long time...

Thoughts?

Here's the sister pieces: [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link]

Ohh wow, these start from squares? Then I need to try making one! I like doing origami, and your pieces are beautiful. :D

Yes, they do start from squares! The technique is called 摘みかんざし (tsumami kanzashi,) but it's called just "kanzashi" in English/on the web.  There's lots of tutorials if you look! :) It's great fun.

So, how do you dye the fabric? Is it possible to tone it after the folding?

I'm sure there are many ways you can dye kanzashi. :) I don't make tutorials, sorry! There is a kanzashi community you could try asking around on, though? There's also [link] who may or may not be taking suggestions for tutorial topics for sale. She's made some in the past, though, so she's a good person to ask. :iconarleen: on deviant art. She's nice! :)

Yeah. I can find them for the regular petals, but I can't find or figure out the cherry blossom petals.

How do you make the pinched parts on the petals stay? I have not found out how to make it like that . . .

Very beautiful.

Kanzashi Core: [link]

She has a tutorial on the left sidebar...click it, and there's a section on how to make sakura.

You can experiment with glue or starch. Both work.

Thank you~ glad you like it.

I'm glad you like this piece! It's one of my more complicated sakura pieces, but it still manages to look quite simple and elegant.

Oh, you like etsy? Or maybe Artfire? (I sell on both). I'm glad! They are nice sites...

I'm glad you like my work~

I love the colors! And I'm not a very big fan of pink. ^.^ I love sakura, they are so delicate and pretty. I love the heart shaped petals. The tiny ones are so cute. :D

When I first saw it, it was hard for me to believe it was fabric. :)

Yep, this one's a really cool pink-- I hand dyed it with a dye called "cotton candy", expecting it to be, you know, a warm pink-- but no. XD I like the way it turned out, though. :D

Ehehe, the tiny ones /are/ cute. They're so small!! *loves small things* Pinching each petal didn't take as long as I thought it would, either...

Yeah...after all that starch, sometimes I wonder if it's fabric, too...

As long as it's not hot pink I'm fine with it. lolz

Small things are always so cute. Even if it's miniature wrench or something. lolz
