How to Fix your Squashed Kanzashi: silk forming. by hanatsukuri How to Fix your Squashed Kanzashi: silk forming. by hanatsukuri
^^ In case you ever squashed squished your silk. Halloween Pumpkin, Chuckle

So~ yes, it's really fairly simple. Clean hands, clean utensils if you use any, and water are all you need. Try and only get the edges of the petal wet; not the center. You can apply the water with: a spray bottle, a wet paint brush, a wet q-tip. Make sure it feels wet to the touch. Then pull it into shape, one petal at a time.

Note: this does not work with kimono fabric, chirimen, or very thick fabrics. It could work with cotton, but you'd have to pull more than prod, like when you're pulling a wet t-shirt to get wrinkles out when you're doing your laundry (to air dry, I mean). Chirimen Especially tends to shrink when it gets wet-- so don't get it wet.

It would still work with lighter synthetic fabrics, too, but some of those synthetic fabrics would probably get a crease rather than a squished/bent look. Take a photo. Let me see. I will advise.

:o I always wondered about Kanzashi maintenance. Poor pretty silk (if it gets squished)...

^^ if it's still in my hands while it's squished, there's really no problem. Llama Emoji 43 (Yawn) [V2]  The hand-dyed ones are born in water (to prevent the dye from coming off in customer's hands), after all, so I shape them normally. ♥  I used to say, "just send it back to me~" but after years of offering, no one has accepted, so I thought I'd just make a DIY. No problem~ I occasionally get in the mood for them...there's so many kanzashi tutorials, but I've never seen any about maintenance.
